"Peace Cycle" poem from Pakistan

This poem was written and read by Mrs. Shaheen Bhatti on the embarking day of the organization "Collaboration against Religious Violence and Extremism (CARVE)" in Lahore, Pakisan, in October, 2009. "Peace Cycle" Peace cycle starts from the psyche and attitudes of love; Love that always seeks to do good to help and heal; Never to hurt or destroy; With its extensions to one's family and surroundings; Which further engage individuals in ties of acceptance and respect; The mutual ties of individuals that lead to community and groups; The groups that influence civil societies; The civil society that cultivates peace nationally; And makes their nation a model of PEACE; PEACE to be followed; Followed by international communities; Again from the psyche and attitudes of love!!!

Oct. 22-25, 2009 - Mannheim, Germany - Regional Conference of IARF for Europe and the Middle East

A year before the IARF congress in South-India there is a conference held in Mannheim/Germany. The Freireligiöse Gemeinde (Freereligiuous congregation) is host to the European and Middle East delegates. There won’t be a separate women’s (IALRW) meeting, but women are well represented and are mostly organizing the IARF event. It will be a real working conference. The discussion will be about how to manage the changes within IARF now that the headquarters have moved to Japan. We will create a new structure of communication to help motivate members to come to India in Sept., 2010. When you read this, if you live in Europe or the Middle East, feel free to drop in with very short notice. The conference starts with an opening evening on Thursday, Oct. 22, and finishes with an International service on Sunday, Oct. 25. You can find further details on the IARF website. The International Association of Liberal Religious Women (IALRW) is one of the oldest international women’s organizations in the world. It was convened in Berlin in 1910 and since that time has provided a link between liberal religious women throughout the world.

It serves to promote friendship and cooperation between like-minded women and is a channel of communication for those striving for a liberal religious life. Members accept that each may belong to a different faith group, yet all share common values of striving for peace, justice and harmony, in the heart of the family, the community and the world.

We strive to embody and nurture a spirit of generosity and trust which encourages care, education, networking and financial support for women, especially those in impoverished and difficult circumstances. The organization is dedicated to building a culture of peace and justice for all. We are inspired to achieve our full potential as we partner across all boundaries to work for women and children’s well-being, education and self-actualization.
